Data Analysis

Data Analysis:-

After collecting our data from the survey which we sent it to the students we had 52 responses, each one of them had an interesting answer, here is our analysis for the data.

As we can see in this chart, the highest percentage for reading is Novels which it got nearly 40% and the second one is love stories with a small difference between them.

In this chart, we can indicate that 46% of the students read monthly and nearly 9%of them read daily.

For most of students the period of finishing one book was equally between “A week” and “A month” with a percentage of 35%.

As we can see in this chart, the majority of students were reading at their homes but the percentage of reading at work, library and other places got same percentage with 4%.

The favourite language to read for the students is Arabic (65%) and the second one is English (30%), with no responses for French.

Half of the students stop reading during the semester with different responses for the others.

Why do you read?

We receive different answers for this question, most of students answered that, they are reading for having fun, spending time, and to increase their knowledge.

Do you like to read about factually or non-factually? Why?

Nearly 50% of students say that they love to read about factually, because they want to know more about the real life and what is happening in it , the others answered that they love them both because the first one increase their knowledge and  the second one make them get rid of tension and life stresses.

Do you believe that books are the best way to exercise your mind? Why?

Almost every one said “yes” but with different reasons, some of them believe that books improve our imagination and the way we think, and some of them said that books provide us with new information and make us ask for more. On the other hand, a few of them disagree because they believe that there are several ways that could help us to increase our knowledge better than the books such as real life experiences.

What is your advice for those who don’t read?

Each one of them had different ideas and advices, but the most advice that was repeated is “reading will improving your knowledge”.

Finally we learned that a lot of people actually love to read and they believe that books can take us around the world and improve our personality .

Collecting Data

Collecting Data

We used survey monkey to collect our data because it is an easy way to reach people which is through a website link rather than papers distributed by hands plus that it is an environmentally sustainable act.

First of all, we started setting up our questions and made some changes in the survey
After that, we sent the link to our friends in HCT by emails but we didn't receive enough responses so Then, we decided to send it through BBM and broadcast the link to our friends in HCT. our total responses are more than 50 response.

Research Blog

1.    Research question.
What is the reading behavior?

2.    A description of your group process for deciding on that research question.

We are trying to know if people actually read books or not and why, also which type of books attract them, moreover we want to know if they really believe that books help us or not, so based on these ideas we set our question.

3.    An explanation of why your group finds that question interesting.

Books are like a time machine that takes us anywhere in any time, it also helps us to know the world that we live in , therefore it’s very important to know if people appreciate this variable thing and if they are not we must make them recognize that.

4.    An explanation of why your group thinks anyone else will be interested in the question.

We believe that there are a lot of people who love books and want people to know and recognize that books are the best way to feed our brain.

5.    An explanation of why your group thinks this group of people will allow you to study them
We will ask second year students in business department the age between 18 and 21, because we believe that this is an easy way to enter a group and communicate with them.
So we decided to have this group of people who are between this two ages because we can directly communicate with them or we can have their emails and send them the survey.

Making Toast

Making Toast
In today's class we were asked to make toast. every group had their own type of bread and we all had one toaster to use.
each group was allowed only to make 3 toasted bread so we can test at what temperature between 1-6  the bread will be perfectly toasted.
Our type of bread was the " Wholegrain bread ".
We started by numbering the slices of bread and writing at which temperature we will toast the slice, The first slice of bread was set for " 4 " , me and my group member Amal agreed that the first toast was too dark.

The second slice of bread was set for " 5 " and to be honest it was burnt.

And finally the last slice of bread was set for " 2 ", I rated this toast as ( Just Right ) but Amal didn't, she thought is it " To Light ".

We ended this experiment having these 3 toasted bread.
